The Performative Friends / Associate / Colleague - Part II

Relationships are the currency of every room. Most people are performing transactions and calling it connection

If you're just joining here: I spent years being agreeable instead of first, being known for who I am and then finding out what you & I might have in common. This is the specific, unfiltered version of me I usually keep to myself.

For more context, Read Part I

So hello! Nice to meet to you. Here is a bit about me.

Sometimes I think deeply about things

Over the course of many hats I have worn are or are wearing, I have always loved to deeply think and learn – about how companies can work better, teams can work better together, how many stars above are there, how big is the universe,  what shades of color make up a sunset, what would living off of a lake vs living in Nice look like for me at my age,  what type of wine was at the Wedding in Cana, blah, blah,  etc etc.

I like using my hands to escape that same thinking

  • Here’s what I like to do:

    • Watercoloring (good paper makes all of the difference and I’ve found a brand just as good as Arches - - - Fuumuui.

    • Container Gardens. Herb and Vegetable gardens are something I picked up from my parents. I remember when they helped me plant a garden here in Indiana, my father was trying to be very specific about how to properly plant a tomato plant (“pull the first stem off and sort of lay it into the dirt and get down there are carefully to cover it) while my Mother was like “you don’t have to do all that – just throw that thing into the dirt and cover it” makes me smile and laugh. I’m so glad I carry on their ability to grow just about anything.

    • Notre Dame Fighting Irish FOOTBALL. I’ve not missed attending at least one home football game in 29 years no matter where I lived.  All my t-shirts are Irish themed. It's obnoxious, I know.  Anyway–  Let’s GO IRISH

    • Following recipes. Just love it.  I think it leans into my personality and also reading about what went into the development of said recipe I’ve relied on recipes to create cakes, pizza dough, pasta noodles,  meatballs and sauce, soufflés, stir frys, sushi, dutch baby pancakes, you name it.  I CAN NOT ad-lib COOK  . I want to know what a “pinch” of salt is – is that a teaspoon, tablespoon - huh what is it?

    • Paper and Pens. I love stationery. I love the feel of a pen in my hand and I love writing while listening to lectures and discussions. I love sketching ideas using my hands. It helps my brain process and react.

    • Reading. I like to switch up different genres – Currently reading the Midnight Train by Matt Haig, LOVED the Love songs of W.E.B. Du Bois by Honorée Fanonne Jeffers, Enjoying Harry Potter,  LOVED the Night Circus and The Starless Sea by Erin Morgenstern (please, please write more) . Looking forward to Parable of the Sower by Octavia Butler and Recursion by Blake Crouch.

    • TV Shows. Dark Matter, Severance,  DOWNTON ABBEY , Sanditon.

    • Coffee. I just love. Of all the things I’ve given up as I get older, coffee wont’ be it.

That Being Said…

There will be no GRWM TikToks. But more opinions, reactions, positions, and the like? Yes. I strive to bring the relevant, real deal Holyfield version to every room (90s reference, you're welcome) .
